The Healthy Longevity Research Seminar was held in Beijing on October 28, 2026, jointly organized by the Chinese Nutrition Society and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). Scholars from domestic health and nutrition research fields, along with representatives from media outlets such as CCTV, Guangming Online, China Radio International, China Daily, and Science and Technology Daily, as well as food industry representatives, gathered to discuss topics including elderly nutrition improvement, frontiers in healthy longevity research, and the transformation of research outcomes.
The seminar focused on cutting-edge research in elderly nutrition and healthy longevity against the backdrop of population aging. It featured the presentation of research achievements by Dr. SHI Xiaoming’s team from the China CDC, which secured third place in the Healthy Longevity Global Competition organized by the U.S. National Academy of Medicine—the only Asian project to receive an award in this round. This achievement, based on large-scale population data from China, has been highly recognized by international peers.
Professor YANG Yuexin, President of the Chinese Nutrition Society and President of the Federation of Asian Nutrition Societies, delivered a welcome address. She emphasized that with the accelerating global aging process and China’s large elderly population, actively responding to population aging and promoting healthy aging has become a critical national priority.

Building on the Elderly Nutrition Improvement Action Project launched in 2022, the Chinese Nutrition Society continues to address the dual burden of malnutrition and overnutrition among the elderly, promoting science popularization and intervention implementation. In 2025, the Elderly Nutrition and Health Cohort Cooperation Alliance was established in collaboration with the China CDC, creating a cross-institutional collaborative research network that provided essential support for this series of longevity studies.
Dr. SHI Xiaoming detailed the research methodology, core findings, and future directions of the award-winning project, while also outlining international trends and China’s research layout in healthy longevity. Other speakers included Professor MAO Chen from the School of Public Health at Southern Medical University, Dr. YU Kai, Head of the China Hub of Nestlé Health Science Institute (via video), and Associate Researchers LU Yuebin and WANG Jun from the China CDC Environmental Health Institute. They presented reports on lifestyle, social-psychological and physical indicators related to longevity, application of research outcomes, appropriate health indicators for the elderly, and the relationship between lifestyle and longevity.
The research team’s systematic work on health evaluation and longevity promotion for the elderly represents a significant breakthrough for China in international scientific competition in the field of healthy longevity. It provides solid evidence-based support for elderly health management practices and demonstrates China’s research capabilities and achievements in this domain to the international academic community.
In addition to thematic reports, the conference included in-depth expert interviews and exchanges with media and industry representatives. Experts discussed topics such as health standards for the elderly, dietary and lifestyle interventions, and the practical application of research results, offering comprehensive perspectives for elderly nutrition and longevity research. Media and industry representatives exchanged views on the social dissemination and industrial transformation of health and longevity research outcomes.
During the event, young student representatives presented flowers to the reporting experts, honoring the scientific spirit of truth-seeking and striving for excellence, and congratulating Dr. SHI Xiaoming’s team on their international achievement. The conference was hosted by Dr. HAN Junhua, Secretary-General of the Chinese Nutrition Society, and Professor ZHAO Wenhua, Researcher at the Nutrition and Health Institute of the China CDC.

The successful convening of the seminar brought together research forces from multiple platforms, including the Elderly Nutrition Improvement Action Project and the Elderly Nutrition and Health Cohort Cooperation Alliance, showcasing the latest achievements and progress in China’s elderly nutrition and health longevity research. These accomplishments reflect the dedication of researchers who remain committed to their original mission and strive for excellence.
Looking ahead, the Chinese Nutrition Society will continue to collaborate with research institutions and industry stakeholders to deepen scientific research on elderly nutrition, promote the practical application of frontier research outcomes, and integrate them into elderly health management practices. These efforts aim to improve the nutritional health status of China’s elderly population, enhance their sense of health well-being, and contribute scientific support to healthy aging.
