The Chinese Nutrition Society (CNS), as a national nutrition professional organization, has maintained friendly cooperative relationships with countries across Asia in the field of nutrition and health for a long time. In 2023, China became the chair country of the new term of the Federation of Asian Nutrition Societies (FANS), and Professor YANG Yuexin, President of CNS, was elected as President of FANS.

To promote academic exchanges in the Asian region, strengthen scientific research cooperation and the transformation of research results, implement the important instructions of Chairman XI Jinping on supporting the establishment of an international medical open pilot zone in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, and the Notice on Several Policy Measures to Support the Reform and Innovation of the Fangchenggang International Medical Open Pilot Zone jointly issued by 11 departments including the National Health Commission, and promote international cooperation in nutrition and health as well as food safety, CNS and the Municipal Government of Fangchenggang City, under the support of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), signed a strategic agreement to jointly promote the establishment of the Asian Nutrition and Health Academy.

On November 16th, 2024, the unveiling ceremony of the Asian Nutrition and Health Academy was held in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, which marks a new stage in cooperation in the field of nutrition and health in Asia. This landmark event not only injects new vitality into the nutrition cause in Asia but also builds an important platform for scientific innovation and the sharing of achievements among regions. The Academy will become an important research and exchange platform to jointly explore the path of nutrition innovation and breakthroughs. It will enhance the ability of the Asian region to address public health challenges and contribute to the achievement of the Good Health and Well-being goal in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
