The 8th Chinese Nutrition Leadership Program (CNLP), jointly organized by the Chinese Nutrition Society (CNS), the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS), and the Federation of Asian Nutrition Societies (FANS), was successfully held in Haikou, Hainan Province, from April 15th to 19th, 2024. The Program aims to enhance the leadership skills, international perspectives, teamwork spirits, and communication competence of young talents in the field of nutrition in China, nurturing future leaders in the discipline.

CNLP was jointly founded by the CNS and the IUNS, with the goal of empowering and promoting young scholars in China's nutrition field to grow into confident, broad-minded, and innovative leaders. Since the inaugural program in 2008, seven sessions have been held, cultivating nearly 300 nutrition professionals with leadership qualities. It has become a signature project of the society in nurturing young leaders.

At the opening ceremony, Professor YANG Yuexin, President of the CNS and FANS, Dean of the 8th CNLP, outlined the primary objectives of the program and expressed her hopes and expectations for the participants. She encouraged the attendees to maintain a positive enthusiasm, keep a youthful mindset for learning and be willing to take on challenges, and set clear leadership goals and unleash their creativity, charisma, and driving force.

The mentor group was composed of multiple renowned leaders and scholars from various fields both at home and abroad. Focused on four major modules including international perspectives and Innovative thinking, collaboration and management capabilities, professional competence and comprehensive literacy, and leadership and execution capabilities, 14 mentors shared insights on topics such as technological innovation and future productivity, food security and global sustainable development strategies, national nutrition programs, digital literacy and cooperation enhancement, skills for navigating current public opinion and communication landscapes, correctly improving leadership and execution capabilities, and more.

The program also included a visit to the Hainan University Museum, a campus nutrition practice consulting event, and multiple group discussions centered on the essence of leadership.

The participants expressed that the program not only upgraded their professional knowledge but also strengthened their teamwork and leadership abilities. Moreover, they forged deep friendships here and established extensive cooperation networks both domestically and internationally.
